Bronze plate is the efficient choice when your finished part is flat or rectangular with a width-to-thickness ratio exceeding 3:1.

• Efficiency: Wear plates, gibs, slide ways, and large-diameter flat thrust washers machine faster from plate than from round bar stock, which requires excessive milling to square up.
• Material Savings: Using near-net-shape plate reduces scrap metal waste compared to milling down large diameter rounds.

C95400 Aluminum Bronze is the superior choice for heavy loads, offering a certified minimum yield strength of 32,000 psi (Continuous Cast) compared to C93200's 20,000 psi.

• Choose C95400 Plate: For high-load wear plates, gibs, and structural components where deformation must be minimized.
• Choose C93200 Plate: For moderate loads where lubricity is the priority. C93200 contains lead, which provides self-lubricating properties that prevent scoring during start-up or intermittent lubrication. C95400 is harder and requires consistent, full-film lubrication to prevent galling.

• C95400 (Aluminum Bronze): Forms a tough, self-healing aluminum oxide layer. It is the standard for submerged marine applications (propellers, rudders) due to its resistance to cavitation and biofouling. Technical Note: For critical long-term immersion, specify Heat Treated (T50) condition to prevent dealuminization.
• C93200 (Tin Bronze): Forms a copper oxide patina (green/brown) that slows corrosion. It resists pitting better than stainless steel in stagnant seawater but is less resistant to fast-moving turbulent water than C95400.

• Strength Retention: It maintains significant compressive strength up to approximately 500°F–600°F (260°C–315°C). At 500°F, its compressive strength is roughly equivalent to the room temperature strength of standard tin bronzes.
• Lubrication: While the metal withstands the heat, standard grease/oil may fail. High-temperature applications often require graphite-based lubricants or solid lubricant plugs.
